i can always for over the $$ and just buy one from ord/parts mike/ btf.....

but i try to use as many reddaly available parts with known application as i can, so later on im not stuck trying to figure out wtf to do because i cant find a pn# to give the counter guy and hope that it is valid in thier comp.

i just put ord arms on my chevy d60, the stock tie rod setup wont shrink down far enough to move it up and mine is bent a little and is the male threaded tie rod with the shitty pinch coupler.

my buddys dodge d60 uses a long heavy wall tie rod tube with short tre's at each end and a pinch clamp to hold it in place. it is 1" longer than the span for my arms and can easily be trimmed and shrunk down to fit.

but what else have you guys found that is off the self at a parts place or pulled from a junkyard? i do have a 7/8x18rh tap all ready but i dont want to have to carry it on the trail for repairs because i have a one off custom tie rod.

Find a good steel supplier and buy some 3/8 wall 1.5" OD DOM tube. We bought enough for 5 rods, and it cost us $50 per rod. Drill it to 53/64ths and tap it. Insert an ES2234R TRE into each end, available from any autoparts store. If you get them from Napa (we got ours from parts plus for $15), they come with the jam nuts you need. Otherwise, get those from sky-manufacturing.com for $2.50 a piece. Jam nuts and a beefy rod are WAY better than the clamp style. Carry and extra TRE, and forget about trail repairs.
