I recently bought a 2000 dakota 5 speed 4x4 with the 3.9l due to the soaring gas prices. I have noticed the 3.9 is not very "peppy" I have thought of a catback with a high flow cat, throttle body spacer, cold air intake, and a chip. I was owndering if anyone had any advice on which was best, or what not to do. Thanks for any help.

I have a 2000 AWD 4.7 though it's a dif engine size I noticed a difference when I installed the same thing. I instaled them seperataly & at each step the preformance got a litle better. I went with flowmaster cat back w/ custom pipe a air-aid intake & throttle body spacer. I haven't gone with a chip yet until now they hadn't had one for my engin

Headers and a high flow cat will go well with what you have, you have to get that exhaust OUT...

my 3.9 got damn near the same mileage as my cousins 360 1500.. both club cab 4x4s, i did it all, intake exhaust and chip and it was still a dog...

DO NOT use a throttle body spacer.......they have been proven to do nothing.

if you realy want to improve performance get an aftermarket throttle body, the heads ported, new cam and headers/exhaust
