: Bj2063si ?
Has anyone ever heard of one of these? Where is it from? I found one for sale under a house close to me and I am seriously considering it. It looks like the Range Rover D110 series. It has 4 doors that are metal on the bottom with removable top half with soft sides but glass windows instead of plastic. It has a trunk like a hummer and a full cage. It, unfortunately, has been converted from a toy engine to a 4 cyl pontiac gas motor. It is spring over, but has 4 wheel drum. The axels also bolt together from the sides at the diff instead of the nomal pumpkin face plate. It is spotless as far as rust and collision damage. No top though. Has 16in wheels. Thats all I can think of right now. The current owner says it was bought from the person who bought it from the person who imported it. The import papers were supposedly "burned in a fire" and the vehicle has never been registered. It is a 1996 vehicle. Anyone know what it would take to register something like this? Any thoughts or have any info on this? Asking price is $4k.
thanks
tom
Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 09:20 AM Tom, I'm pretty sure what you are talking about is not a toyota at all. It's a chinese jeep-like, with nothing toyota about it. I remember a few years ago having seen this thing in some mags. It was supposed to be imported and registered out here, but we never saw them but on photos... If you can have it for free, take it. DO NOT PAY WHAT YOU WOULD PAY FOR A TOYOTA.
I'll try to see if I can find pics back and scan them...
Bye,
Gosh, just reread you post, and saw the $4K line. RUN AWAY !
Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 09:35 AM I just remembered BJ stands for "beijing jeep".

Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 09:48 AM Humm, managed to load a gew pics from the url above, and it looks like they are now building "cheap-rock-heeps".
Now this is being totally offtopic on the cruiser board, and I'm not gonna talk about it anymore tonight.
Btw, if the sellers tries to sell it as a TOYOTA, he's a :rainbow: ing :rainbow:
I would not trade my rotten '80BJ40 which is completely pulled apart for 100 of those. :flipoff2:
Neither would I trade my '75 toyobear...
Bye,
This is what I saw, http://www.bjc.com.cn/models_detail/images/2020va_vb_big.jpg. So these are not Toyota. That sucks. The one I looked at drove nice. It is a lot more user friendly than my FJ40s. Are they poor quality?

Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 09:55 AM Wow, this thread is as fast as my internet connexion is slooow
Finally the pics of what I saw in the mags loaded up in my "backyard". I won't have to scan them, then.

Tracknod 04-22-2002, 10:00 AM here is a pict... I couldn't get the link to work.
Tracknod 04-22-2002, 10:01 AM Damn... beat me :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 10:16 AM As far as registration goes. Shall we all cruiserheads wish him a very good luck.
honestly, I think you'll never be able to register it in the US, though I dunno anything about what is going on there. But if you can't import a european or japanes car built according to the DOT safety standards, how would you do so with an exotic car, which could have been designed 50 years ago but was built 5 years ago...
Bye,
Thanks for the info denis. Since it isn't LC I'll steer clear of it.

Stupid frnch jackasS 04-22-2002, 09:34 PM Tom,
happy to help.
you could've made a big mistake if you bought it....
if you see the seller again, you can tell him what I'm thinking about trying to sell this as a TOYO....:flipoff2:
