Some friends and myself ran that trail on July 7th. We had the trail to ourselves that day.

I took the easy line out of the creek.

That is cool! My wife and I honeymooned in Vail 2 years ago. We rented a FORD Excursion and went looking for trails. Before anyone makes a crack about the oversize exploder, just know I had to take their only four wheel drive vehicle. Anyway I and my wife have always wondered what that trail really looked like. We made it about three feet up the trail before we got hopelessly hung on some 6 inch boulders. So we parked the turd and hiked the trail. The snow started at about the third warning sign and was at least two foot deep where most of those pics were taken. We never made it to the city. At least I don't think we did.

We made it about a half mile past that bouldered up stream crossing to where there was some roting mining equip off to the right and some obviuos mines. This is where I decided we had beter turn back because I noticed the pack animal tracks were in abundance in the snow. And they looked fresh. (Not Frickin Reindeer either!) So I told my new, then, wife that I was getting pretty wipped and that we should turn back.

About half way back down there was some hurried rustling in the trees so we decided running back was an excellent option. That is one rocky and steep trail to run down. Well as the story goes we made it back to our trendy turd and the heater worked excellent. But on the way out I had to move a tree laying across the road that some of the local beavers had cut down while we were hiking. Then we stopped to check out some Trout in the lower stream and then back to reality.

I love CO, it has no comparison when it comes to natural beauty.(IMHO) I was born there and God willing will die there.

Anyway thanx for posting some pics of what I never saw.:)

Easy.

Easy,
I too hiked that trail first. 5 years ago when I first move to Colorado and the Dodge was bone stock, shiney and new. I thought it would be cool to actually wheel it. Now I have probably been on that trail more then any other.

Next time you get to Colorado, we'll have to get some more wheelin in...

Could some one email me when you guys are going to run that trail again. I am up ther alot at my sister's Ranch (PineyRiver Ranch) but I have never been on that trail. Looks scenic.

Please let me know and I would love to join you. I have to put in new seals in all the Rockwells(again) so T-Rex should be ready in a week or so.
