Just like the title says... mine is dying on me, and I want an opinion on what to buy. Don't want to overload the system? Maybe an Optima Yellow Top? Opinions appreciated!:D

You're not kidding Ben -- the last couple I"ve gotten have been junk (hence the having had to get a couple of them recently).

That's too bad man...I wish I knew of a better solution before I spent all the time and $$$ putting two new ones in the CrewCab.

Just did this yesterday...

My Optima is about 3 years old, was in the Jeep previously with never a problem. I have seen enough complaints about them here though. I think that unless you winch a lot, and run 14,000 lights off the front any good HD battery would be fine.

personally I've had good luck with interstate and oddessy. The interstate was the stock battery on d90s in the US. they actually hold up really well even with heavy winching. Mine lasted 7 yrs and had two years of hard winching because I am a horrible driver.

I have an oddessy in my tow rig that has a pretty big stereo and runs a full air suspension and i am pleased with it's performance.

Although I am still somewhat partial to walmart yellow and blacks especially if you are doing something where you know you are probably going to be destroying a couple batteries until you get it right. Wall mart will take back batteries indefinately if you have the reciept and three times in 6 months if you do not have the reciept. The trick is to take them in after 6 pm (when the automotive area closes) but before midnight when returns closes. So that you can just go to the returns desk and wait with all the pregnant ladies and the grossly over weight people until you get to the register. Remember to bring the old batteries and a set of replacements up to the counter with you so you don't have to go back and forth.

So there you go that's my experience with batteries and i have to say that I've seen way too many people recently have optimas completely crap out after just a couple discharges. So mike my advice to you is look at some oddessys as they are replacing optima as a premium battery in my mind. But if those are just for running the cook wagon or something get some walmart specials

On my RRC I just bought the spiral dry cell at Napa, made by Exide. Who makes the "Optima" batteries from what I hear. $135 brand new.

Cheaper too new for new compare to the local shops.

I think the cheap "new" Optima battery's sold have been on the shelf too long with out a constant cycle of power. Just my thought with failures being reported.

Is it the day for overthinking things?

Johnson Controls makes Optima batteries. That's enough reason for me to stay away from them.

I get my batteries as blems from my battery supplier :flipoff2: $10/each and so far, they've lasted fine.

Go to napa and buy a freaking battery, don't waste bandwidth on it.
