I run headmen headers, fenderwell exit and when they run under the body the dont clear by much more than an inch, this heats the body and floor up in a hurry. I just bought 50 feet of DEI header wrap, I have not yet had the chance to wrap the troubled area. How much will this help? Is there anthing else I can do, Its a willys and I cant raise the engine any higher.

Thanks

jet hot header coating is good with this, elimintates alot of underhood heat.

I have used header wrap before and had the same $hitty results as my friends did. I would have the entire header Jet-coated, both sides of course, and depending on clearance maybe do the connecting tube as well. The heat stays in the pipe and helps with flow. Wrapping headers quite often results in uneven heat, splits that allow moisture in, and that leads to  rust !! You'll find out when your header goes :nuke: and you end up sounding like a 50s jalopy.

Good Luck!!

Oh BTW, going with the Jet-coating drops the under hood temps drastically! This helps improve volumetric efficiencies as well as keeps the high temps from shortening the life and/or effectiveness of brakes/clutch fluids, and your battery(ies) too!

An alternate to Jet coating would be to get some asbestos (sp) and install a sheet between the pipe and the body. This should deflect most of the heat. The only problem, is it will get wet and will have to be replaced probally once a year.

Just a thought.
