: Anyone know what happened to the bronco concept?
santa 07-27-2006, 07:20 PM I haven't gotten a mag in a while and was wondering what happened to it. I know it's a small crowd of us BKO lovers, but it seems to have died. Anyone have any new word or insight?
I've sent Ford several e-mails with what I'd like to see, and how great of an idea it would be to revitalize the program, and have gotten nothing but corperate mass e-mail letters since.

Hopefully FoMoCo killed that particular concept and sent their designers back to the drawing board to create a fullsize Bronco. :flipoff2:
Danger Ranger 07-27-2006, 09:40 PM does anyone care? :flipoff2:
jwhoss76 07-27-2006, 10:15 PM Hopefully it was crushed, burned and buried. The "concept" Bronco was a nightmare waiting to happen. If Ford does bring the Bronco back from the grave I hope the engineers use their heads and be true to the lineage and not bend to custom. It needs to be a viable 4WD with at least a 2 speed transfer case, no BS plastic bodycladding, solid axles, etc. Jeep is still going strong with the Wranglers and they are solid axle. Hell, look at how popular the Rubicons are, and they're factory built wheelers. Too bad Toyota had to bring back the FJ the way they did. They could have done so many cool things but failed miserably. If I were to blow that kind of money I'd step up and buy a reproduction FJ-40 rather than an IFS turd like the FJ Cruiser.
Stic-o 07-27-2006, 11:47 PM I heard somewhere...can't remember where:rolleyes:
That ford is going to bring it out in '08 or so, but it very hush hush now. They are going to wait to say anything till the last minute. And they are changing it a little.:D This all happend after they saw how big the hype for the new FJ. So now it will be tweaked to go against the Wrangler. Yes you read that right. But I doubt you will see 2 solid axles.:( I 'll look around and see if I can find the info.
Yeah yeah Iknow you'll all say it's BS, but I guess will have to wait and see.:cool2:
Danger Ranger 07-28-2006, 12:57 AM if you're sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for your favorite auto maker to release the ultimate wheeler platform in a rediculously priced package... (40k+?) you're ghey, hands down, period, end of story :flipoff2:
wyldstallyn73 07-28-2006, 01:07 AM ??all the hype over the FJ??.... only hype I recall was that put out by Toyota tooting their own horn over that abomination.
We all pretty much know that IF Ford brings back the Bronco, it will NOT be engineered for wheeling!! I will just be content if it has 4X4, low range, and a removable top.
45acp 07-28-2006, 05:32 AM If it is built anything like the concept (based on frontwheeldrive car) i will be swapping in a smallblock Chevy in my 74. I declared earlier that i would sell everything Ford i own and never have another one, but i just cant get rid of the 74 so the SBC swap should work good enough as a blue oval middle finger of sorts.
NetBSD 07-28-2006, 09:58 AM last time i heard anything was 4 years ago i seen it in a mag, said something bout 08 or 09 but cant remember right, all i know is it looked like a POS

Don't forget to bastardize it some more with Dihatsu orange plaid seats (period correct), an AMC transmission, and some GM 6 lug axles....
Proeliator 07-28-2006, 11:09 AM Exactly, even if it does come out Ford will fawk it up and it will be overpriced. Think about the EB you could build for 35k or whatever a new broncs price would be.
samwe 07-28-2006, 11:09 AM I think they should make a few changes to a rebadged Defender 90 to differentiate them and sell that here.

Ditto! My first driving experience was my uncles 66 when I was 10. I swore I'd buy a brand new bronco when I graduated HS, but they squashed it before I graduated. And I learned that new trucks suck, so I'll just keep rebuilding "junk".
adrianspeeder 07-28-2006, 12:49 PM Hopefully killed never to see the light of day. I don't even think I would like a FSB based off the current F-150 with the IFS. Now a two door EX with a PSD on the other hand...

Think about the EB you could build for 35k or whatever a new broncs price would be.Its a Festiva with a cool body on it. I think they are (were) aiming at the tiny economy sport ute market. Thats fine, just dont call it a Bronco.
welndmn 07-28-2006, 01:22 PM If they came out with it in a diesel, I would DD that pig.

Dat's what I'm talkin bout. :smokin:
Stic-o 07-28-2006, 11:30 PM I'm just tel'n you all waht I heard, never said it was going to be the most awsome 4x4 ever made:shaking: We all know that if you want a real rig, you got to build it.:dustin:
YamanX 07-29-2006, 12:52 AM I just looked at the concept photos.. I never herd anything about the Bronco concept..It's almost as bad as the Ford Truck concept. Boxy as hell, and looks like a damn Hummer...

Hell, i figured it would have IFS and a V6. But i must admit i did not expect them to draw up the concept built on a front wheel drive car, with sideways motor and no frame.
brokebronco 07-29-2006, 04:25 PM It looks like a Yugo on roids. Kill it now!
I read in Motor Trend that Ford replacing the explorer in their line up with some crossover and making the explorer to be more capable off road. So the Bronco concept is most likely not going to production.

Now see, that just makes me want to vomit. Judging by heep sales, I'd think if they made a real contemporary bronco they'd sell like hotcakes if the prices were about the same as the heeps.

and make the FX4 package for it eqivalent to the Rubicon package for heeps...i think i'd be in heaven:smokin:
