I went to Napa and Car Quest, Both places tell me the same thing, "They dont show a clutch master cylinder for a 1980 cj5"
They can get an 82-86, Question is, is the 1980 and 1982 clutch master cylinder the same model for each year.
Are there any other master cylinders that could work with the same bore and pedal and such?
I would a lot rather buy one at carquest than using the plastic to order one from 4wd hardware or a similiar place.

Maybe because they don't have one:flipoff2:
My Bro has a 80 CJ7 and it's linkage:D it also sucks, it's comming loose from the firewall mounts.

I went to the major parts places around here looking for a MC for an 81" I had...no luck.
I ended up calling 4wd hardware or somebody like that.
Call them and ask if the newer ones will work, then get it local if it does...I figure the bore size is different on em, and then you'll "need" different slave or something too. Then again I dont really know... I could be wrong. ;)

Linkage and it bolting up is my only concern..ITs mounted on my willys and I have and sm 465..if you put 2 and 2 together you know I must have some sort of custom slave cylinder.
I machined apeice of angle iron to use the same bolts as the bellhousing then bolted the new custom slave cylinder to the L iron...works nice

you want to ask for a master and slave from a jeep that had a 4cyl engine. 6 bangers had linkage. www.rockequipment.com . Or just go to the Dodge dealer. Slave and master should be no more than $70 each. I also mounted mine to a 465.

The next best thing to do will be to get the casting # off of it and calling into those parts places. Sometimes this was the ONLY way that I could order parts. They then should be able to tell you if this is still available, or if it is obsolete. Shouldn't be obsolete yet due to it being only @22 years old.
(BE SURE TO TALK TO SOMEONE KNOWLEDGABLE IN CROSS REFERENCING)
Typically a good brake catalog, like Wagner or Bendix, will also show a picture to help properly identify the part.
If I still worked at a parts house, I would have been able to provide more help to you.:D

I changed over my 83 CJ7 from linkage to Hydro from a 4 banger
Slave was an easy bolt on to the bell housing
I got the parts from Capitol Jeepers
They will know exactly what you are talking about when you call.
The one thing is, don't get the factory hose that goes from the master to the slave . . . not long enough / no stretch . . .
I used some of the braided steel lines, and some 90 degree fittings ( you will need some tight ones because of the output of the master puts it right back against the firewall )
The fun part is connecting to the pedal assembly . . .
But once you are done, it works well.

Here are the part numbers from www.partsamerica.com , the online Advance Auto, for an 80' CJ5 w/4 banger.
TRU TORQUE CM106439 $99.89
That was the master, the slave is here,
BENDIX 11956 SLAVE CYLINDER; 83-82 AMC, 87-80 JEEP $70.29
This shows the slave as being for an 80-87 Jeep.
By the way, the part # for the master is also the same for an 86' CJ7 with a 4.2 six.
Have fun, Andy :D
