I have the 32/36 progressive weber carb on my 258. Lately it has been bogging down. My air fuel gauge has been showing slightly rich and when I give it the gas a puff of black smoke comes out. Tried turning the mixture screw all the way in but it STILL RUNS!!!! Barely turn it out and its running rich. So I'm thinking that the float needs to be adjusted or is stuck. Could I need a bigger air idle jet? Was thinking about drilling it out slightly. The last few tanks of gas I have been running sea foam and octane booster. I wonder if the sea foam loosened up some crap and it plugged something up? Thanks.

I'm running the same carb. Take that thing apart and clean it. Also are you running a fuel pressure reg on it?

OK. Not running a regulator. I have always ran an electrical in line fuel pump (3-5 psi). Never had any problems 'till now.
