Looks great...any idea on the price? I wonder where this axle fits into the 9" versus the D60 versus the 14FF debate?

I want it to have my axles babies... I think I sould go build an axle jig and build axles. It seems so awsome. Looks great though!

p.s. If you really wanted some trick stuff you could throw some drilled/vented rotors on it. :D bling bling

They are still in the prototyping phase. We arent offering complete axles yet except to competitors with our lightweight 60 knuckles on them. We are hoping to have a pricing structure and a all inclusive package to bolt into a jeep in the coming months. But I can say that it should blow a dynatrac 60 out of the water but thats about as much as I know right now.

I tried talking the guys in the machine shop to throw my rotors in and drill them with our 14" comp rotors but no luck. And my front F250 rotors were near impossible to find with the hub housing let alone cross drilled. Its a bitch and a half to drill vented rotors like these though. I think with a 12.5" front rotor with dual piston calipers and GM 3/4 ton front calipers int he rear it should stop my jeep JUST FINE :D.

I used these for my rear brake conversion on the limo. They were just a little more and I have had good using them on the front. I figured, "What the hell? Why not?"

But I do understand that they do nothing for the ability to stop for a rear brake setup, they just look cool:flipoff2:. They are for a mid-80's4x4 3/4 chevy/gmc pickup from summit racing.

so these are goign to be full floating 9" axles, i get that but why do so much work when the 3rd member will still be weak? or are you making something stronger for that? from what i understand the 9" 3rd is alot weaker at the bearing caps then a 14bFF even if its a N case. or am i mistakin?

the strange thrid I have is good for over 800hp....I'm sure they'll make a 9" third hold up in that. I'm going to be in the market for a 9" front very soon, and would be VERY interested in one with d60 outers, in a 6 lug setup. Any chance on preliminary pricing?

Those are super cool axles. I like the FF rear, that's sexy.

I don't know how sturdy those things look. I think a cast 14BFF would still be compareable and a whole heck of a lot cheaper to get and build up. At least if you are looking for a 8 lug full floating unit, Dana 60s and 14 bolts still seem to be much less hassel, but good luck anyway.

I like the quick change ability of the third member and they are much easier to set up than an integral housing carrier. I plan to use 14b shafts cut down and resplined to 31 with a truetrac on the street, when I wheel I can just pull my shafts drain the fluid swap in my spooled third and hit the trail. Cheap mans ARB. I do plan on running strange nodular thirds but in the interest of cost and getting these things rolling Ill be running stock thirds for a little while. But I wont be going over 37's for a while with this rig so Im not too concerned about their strength. Plus the clearance beats the hell out of a 14b. This axle with 37s will have 2" more ground clearance than a dana 60 on 40"s.

Considering I work at the shop these are made at and I love 9" axles for their ease of setup and service I think these are the better choice for my application. We are currently running these in competition as are several of the top competitors. It is a proven design and I am setting these up much cheaper than a built 60 or 14b. My housings will actually be stronger than the competition setups out there since most of those we built including the ones in our buggy are running 1/4" wall with no truss and are holding up just fine. Plus there is immensly more aftermarket support for the 9" than the 14b. And these housings are just damn sexy, not some boat anchor. :D

Oh yeah, and how much does a cast 14b weigh...?

Our production models are being setup with our lightweight 60 knuckles and ford F450 unit bearings redrilled to 5x5.5, 6x5.5, 8x6.5, or 8x170 bolt patterns. Check out the "Garage" section on our website for pics.

HONESTLY. do you REALLY think your going to go thru that trouble? why?
just leave the spool in. quick change or not, your still looking at 20 + minutes to get it on the road again, plus the now drained gear oil, and silicone everywhere....

Normally I wouldnt care that much, especially with the little bit of wheelbase my ZJ has, but when it comes wintertime with icy roads, its a bit of peace of mind. This is still my DD after all. And as for the silicon Ill be using those reusable lube-lok gaskets, no RTV setup time.
