I noticed earlier that my clutch resevoir was almost empty. Upon further examination there is fluid leaking down the firewall on the inside of the cab. Does this need to be replaced or rebuilt and should I go ahead and do it and the slave cylinder? When the slave cylinder went out on my FJ40 I replaced it and later that day I blew the master cylinder.

I was lucky...just took the master cylinder apart and cleaned it out...put it back together and it's been working good...I suspect that this will only be a temporary fix...might be better off replacing it.

If it's anything like a 40, the culprit is the slave cylinder ;)

Rebuild both master and slave cylinders, and replace the clutch hose. You're done :).

I don't know about the slave being bad:confused: But the Master is in need of a rebuild for sure. Rebuild it or replace it and you should be cool.

Jeff Jeff, Oftentimes when the master is rebuilt, the slave cylinder blows chunks shortly afterward. IMO rebuild both.
