Clark King 30 plasma cutter

Picked one of these up in a trade awhile back, does anyone know of or heard of this brand/model?

I can't find anything about it on the net which makes me wonder if it's crappy or not.

It's 220 and works fine though I tried cutting through a 3/8" frame and it didn't like that. Seems like a small 220 unit shouldn't have a problem with that thickness.

I wouldn't expect much more than 5/16" out of a no-name 25A machine with fresh consumables and dry air. Throw some less than new consumables and moist air and 3/8" would be a big chore for it.

No idea who makes it for Clarke or if they make it themselves but you can buy consumables at HTP. Based on what other inverter machines can do I would think 3/8" is probably the max if everything is working up to snuff. Summit Racing sells these for a grand or so new.

Dang, they're more money than I thought. When I went to take a picture of it I notice the $789.95 price tag on it.

Quality wise I'm not sure where it stands, I'm guessing not real great since it's not even adjustable. But, considering the trade I got it in I didn't give much for it.

I was idiot when I was googling it, I didn't pay attention to the e on the end of clarke, now I've found a little more info. It is only rated up to 1/4" metal so at least I know it's limits now.

I started out with a Clarke 110v welder and it never gave me any trouble. Craftsman sells the same model now, just with red sheetmetal. I've also got a 220v HTP plasma cutter, but just because it's 220v doesn't mean much. It's small as well, and struggles on 1/4"...how I long for one of the massive units on the tv shows...
