Now if I flat tow the cruiser behind the Dodge 3/4 ton the hitch on the Dodge is at 17 and 3/4" and in order for the towbar on the FJ40 to be level it needs to be at 27". My question is would it be okay to run a 10" drop down hitch upside down in order to make up the difference in height or is that too much to be safe? Any input would be appreciated.:D

That's how Steve runs his hitch. Just make sure to get a good spread on the towbar. Mine is to narrow and the Toy pushes me around. Steve's has about a foot more spread and has no probs. Hope this helps!!

Just be carefull you don't open the tailgate if its real high--a buddy of mine was towing a big CJ behind a 2wd dually w/a similar setup and put a dent in his tailgate.

Ken, are you using a straight tow bar? I don't know if you saw how mine was setup, but I have one of those ceapy WalMart/PepBoys tow bars with the hitch end dropped, then a 4" rise tow hitch bar. It makes for a level hookup with my 35's.

not proud of doing it but I ran mine upside down towing a fullsize chev and it held up fine. mine is a class five setup though

I have a custom 24inch drop hitch, i plow the fields with it, then turn up around and flat tow with it

I run mine that is 12 inch hitch upside down. And the only thing I would worry about is opening the tail gate on it. :D:D
I always take mine off when I disconnect the cruiser, just in case. :D
