I know I can get 6 ton step type stands to hold my rig up. I'm looking for threaded ones for infinite height adjustment. Kind of like boat stands but not as bulky. I know I've seen guys using them on here before.
Where can I get some? I don't need fancy ones.

Sometimes you spot them on eBay but I figure the shipping would cost more than the stands.
ACME threaded stock is easy to get ahold of. The nice adjuster handles are expensive at $36 each from McM-C but easy to replicate with ACME coupling nuts. The rest is just fabbing the stand itself. This is the way I'd do it unless you can find a shop closing or auctioning off tools.

fyi: I use those ^^ Ridgid stands and purchase them at Home Depot for $58.08 (the vj-99 that span from 20-58" tall). They have to special order them but it usually only takes a few days to recieve them. I can get Home Depots actuall part # if your local HD has a hard time finding them.

I'm headed to the woods now, when I get back I'll back my shitbox off the trailer and measure the bumper heights. If 28" is short enough to hold it at full stuff, I'm definetly going to have my local Homie Depot order some.
thanks

Here's a set I built awhile ago when I really needed something with a huge height variation and ability to level with screwjacks. Love em, work perfect and I trust them more than any other jackstand I've had.

wonder if I can find these online. Anybody know a place.
as long as the shipping is less than the $35 in gas it would take to drive to and from the nearest home depot.

Funny you should mention that. I did a Froogle search before and found the VJ-98 (shorter ones) for $49 at this automotive tool supply store that had a ton of cheap stuff.

I search around their site thinking they are out in California or some other useless place :flipoff2: and it would cost as much to ship them as it did to buy them.
Turns out they are 6 miles from my house :D . I called them and a nice lady on the phone gave me directions and hours. One day next week I am leaving work an hour early and going on a shopping spree! Check out some of their other stuff.
