Alrighty, so I rebuilt my 46RE across two nights this week.

Now, after installation, it will not flow atf through the cooler line. The return line seems to be plugged or blocked at the transmission case. I have verified this with an air gun and compressed air, as well as by observing my cooler hose at the radiator blowing off under start up!

What could this be? Who knows where the return line for the cooler goes once it enters the case?

I took the return line off, as well as the brass fitting that screws into the case to check it via compressed air. Nothing! The air comes back at me. What is going on here? Where does that line go?

Please guys, any help would be appreciated.

Are you checking for flow in park or neutral? They don't flow fluid in park. This is the reason that I always put my truck in neutral before selecting a gear.

This transmission has the Transgo Reprogrammer with the new manual valve to allow flow in park. This design was done to allow converter charge while in park.

Now, I seem to have something blocked at the fluid return line at the case. Does anyone know where that return line at the case goes? Does it dump back into the pan, or does it flow through the output shaft into the O/D unit? Any help would be appreciated....

Don't you have to actually drill a passage in the valve body for this to work? It seems that I remember something about that when I checked out the shift kit instructions a year or two ago....

If that is the case, did you do it? Have you tried it in neutral vs. park? Just because it is supposed to flow fluid in park now doesn't mean that it does.

I do recall what you are thinking about.

Yes, in Neutral or Park, the thing has troubles. After looking at it again, we think that the return cooler flow, which goes through the O/D unit has been plugged, or something like this. We dropped the trans again on Monday, and Tuesday night, I am going to go through it again.

Wish me luck!
