ok, so i'm swapping do a different carb setup on my truck, and it's too tall to fit under the hood, so i'm cutting it for a scoop. I decided the scoop I have will look best facing forward, and i'm debating making it functional or not. right now it has plastic molded over where the air intake would be, and was never functional on the past car it came off (some year trans am).

i'm worried that the forward facing will cause problems with a k&n style exposed air filter with the rain and snow. it's a daily driver, and I don't need to start any more problems, and can't see any benifit of making it functional, besides the fact I hate non-functional scoops.

so, am I correct that it'll cause problems if made functional because the rain and snow will be forced into the air cleaner, or am I thinking too much?
thanks:cool2:

maybe you should use a cowl hood like mine :flipoff2:

If you like being able to fry an egg on your hood keep the scoop closed. Have it face backward and it will help keep your underhood temps down when driving at slow speeds.

it is functional, it makes room for your carb, that sounds like a function to me.
