Does anyone know if the shaft on a 700R4 differs between 2WD and 4WD or will the transmission be interchangeable????

Yeah the tailshaft will be different lengths. On a 4wd it bolts to the tc where as on a 2wd it goes straight to the driveshaft which goes right into the rear axle.

Any good transmission shop can change it out for the correct one though.
