Looking for some feedback on swapping out my 4Cyl 88YJ engine
Really don't want a big V8 , but considering a V6 or straight 6
have beefed up front & rear diffs 44 front & Ford 8.8 rear (4.88 gears)
Running large PitBull Rocker 35's & just don't have enough horses
Have stock 5 speed trany & Atlas II 4.3 transfer
Would like to find something that I could bolt up to what I have, maybe with a little help from Advanced Adapters

Here's enough reading to make you puke. This deals specifically with Ford 5.0 swaps but if you want info. on chevy swaps I'm sure you can search and find some. Good luck.http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45309

stroker. you take a high output 4.0 and put on a high output 4.0 head with a 258 crank and rods. youll be pleased to read that its a bolt in and will yield you 260 hp and 300lb or more of torque.

I have 4.3 vortec in my CJ and love it. A little lighter than V-8 and has all the power I could want for Rubicon type wheelin'.

Nope, its not a bolt in. going from a 4cyl (150cid) to the 6cyl (stroker or otherwise) will require quite a bit of modification. i've done this so i know. bell houseing needs to be aquired to accept the engine bolt pattern. Research to find out which bell houseing will work with the aX5 and still bolt to the 6cyl. The 6 didnt come with an AX5, but if that tranny has the same bolt pattern as the aX15, your set. Input shaft needs to be upgraded to a 10 spline, whole drivetrain moves forward 2 inches, lengthen and shorten drivelines, new radiator, engine frame mounts, yada yada....
