So I swapped out panhard rods today. I noticed that the one in the truck was actually rubbing against the sewer capped front diff, so I shaved off about 1/8th inch of metal off of the diff housing, and another 1/8th or so off of the inside of the bend in the rod.
When I installed it, there was about a 1 inch space between the front of the sewer cap and the back side of the panhard rod.
So....my question is this:
Are there different styles of panhard rods for different trucks? I hadn't noticed any difference until now.

Never seen a difference.
In fact when I sell a Sewer cap I normally sell a high clearance adjustable panhard rod with it..
That's maily because the cap I sell is a about 3/8" longer than one that actually requires the factory diff cover to com off for installation of said cap.
Even when you remove the factory cover and install a really short cap I can't see a stock Phard rod working without rubbing..

Maybe, just maybe that between the worn busings and the caster-corrected radius arms, you had altered the geometry enough that the interference happened.
Ceterus Parabus my friend, change one thing at a time if you're looking for a change.

I'd be willing to bet it was the radius arm change. The Caster correction would have rotated the axle so that certian things could have created interference.

My 1980 panhard rod is less beefy than my later ones. They may have beefed up the panhard rod whn then beefed up the radius arms, but that is a guess at this point.

Yeah, I think this one is from '83, so you may be onto something.
Hinges coming off soon...

From my microCAT there are several listings for panhard rods, from early defender, through Rangerover classic, the later 4 door rangie's and series 1 discoveries.....
