Anyone build their TJ for rock crawling/jumping? I was thinkign about buying a TJ and throwing coilovers/new axles on it and some air bumps...that way I could go out to the dunes and jump it and then go hit moab etc. Anyone have any photos?
A vehicle cannot serve dual purposes, its impossible :shaking:
:flipoff2: Search for a guy named Goat, then come back and ask more specific questions.

Goat's CJ is not really a jeep anymore...it's all tube. I've seen the rig in person. I'm thinking more on the lines of a semi-stock frame, motor, etc.
Fine, search 95BeatYJ,
The point I am trying to convey here is search!!

Then get a red star! If you can afford coil-overs & new axles, you can certain afford a red star!

You will need more than airbumps and coilovers. I have jumped it fine with my old Edelbrock Resi's and RE springs. The landings weren't great, but they weren't real bad either.
You will need to truss the hell out of the front end. The stock rear 44 has held up fine for the most part. Pay close attention to clearances afterwards also. I put my front axle into my crankshaft during my last flight, and it wasn't very high.
Safety is a big concern also. Get some quality suspension seats with harneeses and put a real cage in it with the seats mounted too it. When we were first testing the c/o's I went a little bigger than I wanted too and damn near compressed my spine even with mastercrafts I can't imagine what would have happened with stock seats. The floor of the Jeep cracks pretty easy btw.
It is fun, but expensive. Way more broken parts. And by no means will you be jumping a stock frame TJ like Dusty Booger or Goat1.
