: front axle moved FWD & steering issues

I want to move my front axle foreward ~2" for the extended wheelbase and to keep the tires out of the fender and clutch linkage (CJ7, spring over, ~38s). I plan to do this with offset center pin springs.

If the axle goes fwd, how can I make the steering linkage work without relocating the steering box? If I 'highsteer' the draglink but leave the tierod below the springs they won't interfear, but will the angle of the draglink cause problems?

I don't think it would be a problem

should be fine, but your better off doing it right and re locating teh box flat and forward more. trial and error! jiMMy

Do what I'm doing - get the high steer arms that put the tie rod behind the axle. Do a search on "Roggy high steer" and you'll see some pics.

If he's gonna do high steer arms, he might as well get the tie rod out of the rocks while he's at it. It won't cost that much more.

The Chevy Dana 60 I'll be using for my CJ's front axle already has been swapped to cross over steering with the high steer arm on the passenger side and the tie rod in the stock location, so I won't have to change much. I don't have the fab skills for the trial and error method. I will be raising the tie rod a little by using Heim joints above the stock arm. I figure that and a really beefy tierod and I should be fine. I'm a true believer in the KISS principle - Keep It Simple Stupid. Thanks for the input.
