Well this is finally starting to get to be and easier conversion. I just finished my second conversion last week, I did it on my friends disco with 39.5x13.5 Iroks. He couldn't stop at all before. Well after all was said and done grabbing rubber wasn't a problem. We used the Hydra boost out of a 87 Chevy astro van AWD 4 whl disc, its a angled unit so it allows clearance by the stock abs pump( if you don't feel like f-ing with all the plumbing) and clears the Shock tower. I had the hoses made at a local hose shop, by using the rover stock PS hose fittings, and the boost fittings, creating a in and out line. Then I used the Rover tracks plans for the GM PS pump conversion so I could create plenty of pressure for the brakes, and the steering. After all is said and done with a little fiddling here and there with some brake line flareing, Hydra boost brakes it is. A def must for someone who can't stop their tires with their squishy rover brake booster.

Post a few pics! Or, at least e-mail them to me. I want to see how you installed it.
How much was the pump. You got a part number?

Yes. Post pics and part numbers. Make it easier on the rest of us. It's just a matter of time before my ABS pump goes out again and this time it's not getting replaced.

i will be putting in 3/4 ton stuff with 3/4 ton brakes.
i was planning on using 3/4 ton master (gm) as well as a 1 ton hydro boost unit.
also changing out the ps pump for one from an fj 80 that has 2 hp outputs.
will this work ok?
i will not keep the abs obviously as i am tired of it not letting me stop.

heres a link to the picture of the hydraboost picture installed on my 96. I will post the part number for the pump later, I have it on my email at work, the pump is a direct swap, I also have written instructions on how to shim the pump for more pressure. Larry, I just sent a hydra set up to keith also I dont know how close you are to him, but you may be able to see how its done. the pump if I remember right is around 79 or 80 bucks, and then there is a core charge, however you can jsut turn in your old rover pump as the core because they are the same...:D

Yeaahhh!
I just installed the pump last weekend ... only $63 here net of the core charge, Now I need to collect the booster and m/c and I'll have real brakes and steering too :)
Thanks again,
KAA - not the keith referenced above...
Hmm, after looking at the photo ref. above, I see the later model m/c with the plastic resevoir & covers...the last time I was at Pendy's he was installing a H/B setup that seemed to use an old iron Chev m/c ???
edit #2 ... Hmm, I see the same plastic m/c on Slade's Ice Cream Truck..... must work ok then ...
Comments??

NSP 20874 is the correct pump number from napa, you can actually run a bunch of different types of MC on this boost unit, it all depends on what type of bore you want. I like the stock one of the astrovan, it works really well for our discos, the only down side is the size of the front resivoir im looking into have a solid stepped resevoir made so it will still fit under our hoods...
