Went to my exhaust shop and he/they recommended a welded Magnaflow muffler. Any opinions out there? How's it sound? Does it last?
It's a good deal - he's trading it for my (4 times) dead Borla. I know the Borla costs more, but I'm sick of dealing with it. He's just charging the install cost.

if you have a v-8 in your jeep I would definatly go for it. I run and love several maganflows, now I put one on moms kj, and it sounds a bit like an import at low rpm but goes deeper and raspy at high (over 2k) rpm. If you have a 4 or 6 cyl, I hate to admit it but I would do a flowmaster.

I have a 4 banger, and runs over 3k most of the time. :flipoff2:
Why a Flowmaster? Not my first choice either. I should say that I'm going to be happier with a quiet muffler than a loud one. The 'canyons' of San Francisco echo in every direction...

I have a Magna Flow on my 01XJ with the 4.0 and love it.

I have a Magnaflow, it sounds good, a little deeper than stock but not too loud at all in the low RPM range. I wanted it to be louder though, but if you want a quiet exhaust then I think it is good. Plus it is a good design and seems like it will last a long time. I have a 4.0 BTW.

Funny I switched to a Magnaflow from a Flowmaster 40 Series that I got from my friend on my 4cyl; because the Flowmaster sounded like shit and was way too loud. Magnaflows have a quieter deeper tone to them.

Flowmaster 40s are not loud, I don't see how anyone can say they are loud. I might see a 4 banger at a high RPM being loud all the time but a 40 is to a nice rumble at idle and only gets sound at a high rpm when your happy with the gas.
I had a flowmaster 50, it was a cool change from the stock sound but after a while it got anoying. You can't beat glasspacks on a 304.

Not all flowmasters are the same the more chambers they have the quieter they are.
