I have a little Husky 17g compressor (this one.. (http://www.homedepot.com/cmc_upload/HDUS/EN_US/asset/images/eplus/165614_4.jpg)) which until about a week ago went to 150psi and shut off, now it goes to 75psi, doesn't shut off but will not exceed 75psi. Its about 1.5 years old and Home depot says out of warranty (1 yr) :mad3:
Anyone have an idea as to why it won't exceed 75psi? No leaks.

Very likely bad rings but you might as well check the air filter just in case it's totally plugged up.

If this is a 2 stage compressor (which it pretty much has to be) the first stage pumps it up to 80-ish and the second cylinder compresses it further. It sounds like the valve between the two stages may not be sealing or else as has been mentioned the rings are worn. Should be pretty easy to fix though. I like to keep my air pressure in the 120-150 range- 120 most all of the time but if I need to really whack a tight bolt I'll run it up to 150 as a one shot deal.
