The engine mount across the front of the block is in the way of the pump lines (high pressure and return) anyone had this problem yet?

You are running the front plate motor mount? Could you switch to the AA generic mounts? I used them and they work well. I did not use Saginaw steering, so mine is different. I went with the FJ60 steering setup and it was pretty easy...

Where in San Diego are you?

There is a newer hose shop in San Deigo that can make pretty much whatever you need in terms of High pressure hoses. I'll get the name and number to you tonight once I get home...

Thanks for your help! I live in Vista. I don't know about the mounts by AA? Will i have to move the stock mounts on the frame?

On my FJ, the hard lines are attached to soft lines, then back to hard lines where it enters the steering box. a shop that makes hydraulic lines should be able to hook you up... My soft lines are also wrapped in foam so they can rub on stuff without rupturing.

My problem is more that I can't even get to the back of the pump, or mount the pump for that matter, because the fittings hit the engine mount.
I really believe at this point that I need a different style of engine mount.I have a 305 like you, do you have the mount across the front of the block?

I'm running a 350 with AA motor mounts and am doing my saginaw as we speak. I mounted the pump on the two bolts on the front of the bloc just to the side of the crank. I used all the brackets I pulled off the van I got the pump from and it mouted up fine- had to cut a small spacer outa some pipe for the bracket that swings up around to the header/exhaust manifold though(it'll make sense when you see it). It is pretty tight getting the steering shaft by. I'm still not done & have it partially apart so I can snap a few photos if you think it'll help- just need someone to post 'em :D or an email addy to send to.

Also, We just fabbed some BEEFY AA style motor mounts out of some channel, plate, & angle by copying the oneson my rig. It was real easy and only cost like $13 in steel and half a day cutting/grinding/fitting/welding. No pics of his mounts can snap some of mine as installed.

Also ceck out this style mountwww.artmorrison.com/F_MotorMounts.htm (http://www.artmorrison.com/F_MotorMounts.htm)

They seem pretty sweet and protect the oil pan too!!

Good Luck
Chris

Yeah, my mount is across the front of the block... I can try and take a digi pic tonight to show you my setup. I bought my FJ with the V8 in it, so I'm not sure if the brackets are not stock on that motor...

If you shift to the AA style mounts you will need to remove the factory riveted on motor mounts. I went that method and it has no clearance problems. I think the place to get hoses made is Griffins A/C and heating. I have a flyer from them and they can make just about anything.

Also check the phone book for a local Parker for your lines. They can make em while you wait. Even custom bends-just bring a coat hanger bent to shape.

You have the early style motor plate offered by downey toyota. It uses the stock frame mounts for the f engines. You can still use this plate with the sag powr steering. Since you have a 350, use the bolt location in the head for you power steering pump. Then just have the high pressure line made at hose shop. The return line is no problem, since it attaches with just hose clamps.
