I hate to ask such such a dumbasss question, but I couldn't find the info in my search. How wide (WMS to WMS) is a full size 9"? Do they vary? I'm looking for something 62-63" wide. Preferably 78 and newer :)
TIA :D

Mark, my 77 f150 4wd is just over 64" , should be the same up to 79 including the big broncos. This sure comes up a lot, too bad theres not a page with all the widths. IIRC the early 70's 2wd f150 is closer to 62"

Yeah i heard a rumor that some f100s were 61-62 and the driver and passerger were the same size!
I would love one of those, but then again, its only a rumor, i have never seen one

70's 4x4 F-150's should be 65". The 2x4 9's should be shorter. 62-63"????

Don't know about the other years but the 77 gets you the burly banjo housing and equal length 31 spline shafts

I have seen two of these in my whole life. These early "narrow" housings are everywhere in the wrecking yards, but most have 28 spline shafts. ONLY the 60 to 62? 4wd's had the larger shafts. I know where one is right now in a running truck and it even has a nodular housing!!

Does it have 31 spline axles? Is it for sale?

You can make it 31 spline when you lock it, and buy some cromo shafts
Having equal lenght axles would be very nice!

I have pulled (2) 9" from Pick N Pull. One from a 79 2wd F150. ~66" and another from a 86 2wd F150 again ~66". Obviously big bearing 31 spline.

Yeah i can't wait the hit them again, I hate my rear being soo narrow and the front is 59.5 with the chevy disc, throwing a 61 inch rear will be very nice
