i am curious as to what people have done for snorkel kits, i've seen some custom made snorkel's but just dont look quite efficient or effective. arb's kit is quite expensive but locates the kit on the opposite side of the intake manifold.. is anyone currently using the ARB kit or is there a better way to make a custom snorkel

I've seen snorkel kits get ripped off by trees on the trail, then you have your intake at the bottom of your fender. Are you really in water deep enough to need a snorkel? What sort of trails are you running? If you feel like you really need to raise the intake, I would go with the Hummer style snorkel mod through the cowl. You then have the option of raising the intake when you need to.

I found this little deck plate on eBay. It is used as you know on boats.
The opening is 4".
I will use it as a vent when needed by just taking the lid off, and when I am in a situation where I need a snorkle I will hook a 3" tube to the AIRAID and run it through the hole up to the roof rack where a have an air filter mounted.
I've debated using screen vents but was not fond of the idea of rain running through the hood onto the engine.
Oh well! I think it will do the trick.
