: Correction Bushings
Hello guys,
One time earlier I saw a post about 15 degree correction rubber bushings for defender/RR trailing arms. BUT for the life of me, I can't remember where I saw the post, can anybody help?
I do remember there was a link to a firm in Australia, that makes and sells the bushings for around $100 AUD.
Would greatly appreciate if sombody can steer me in the right direction.
Cheers,
Todd.

You're probably thinking of the OME Castor Corrected bushings. I had them on my 88 RR years ago and had no problems but seem people have had problems with them. Some folks have reported that the bushings wear down very quickly of break easily. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4292645663
There are a few companies that sell the bushings in the US: one of them is DAP and the other is Rock Road http://www.rocky-road.com/disco.html.
The bushings from Australia are slotted bushings which are not the same as castor corrected bushings. We've brought in a few sets to test but I haven't heard back from our testers yet (wink wink LWG).
Polybush (the company in the UK) also has a slotted bushing which we will be testing in the next few weeks. We also have a set of Black Polybush which are very flexible but not as strong as the Orange, they're really meant for competition and have to be changed often.
Hope this helps.

Is that a missprint? 15 degrees is a hell of a large correction. Generally, for every inch of suspension lift the castor alters by about 1 1/4 degrees. 15 degrees would correct a 12 inch lift.
I don't think there is enough room inside the bushing outer shell to correct that much. Would I be correct in thinking that eccentric bushings would reduce articulation?
Bill.
wilsby 08-13-2006, 11:23 AM Don't know if that is a misprint, but he is asking about trailing arms. 15 degrees is still a lot, even if the trailing arms are shorter than the front radius ones.
What these bushings would look like is yet another question, I think I've seen wedges for the rear, but not bushings?

I assumed he was talking about radius arm bushings since he mentioned the Aussie bushings.
Yes, I'm talking about the trailing arm bushings. Yes, 15 degree's is alot, and I was obviously wrong, but I do know that they are angles to offset the gap at the top of the bushing and the over compression at the bottom. ( Whats the actual angle, well, that's anyones guess)
Here's what I was talking about, now that I finally found the product I was talking about.Trailing Arm Correction Bushing (http://www.lrautomotive.com.au/151.html).
You were right Johnny5, DAP actually imports this very prodcuct, from the link above.
Hej Wilsby,
yes BM sells wedges, but I can't find a price for them and really wonder if they are any good ?
Todd.
Johnny5 08-17-2006, 07:57 AM Todd,
The link you posted is NOT for castor correcting bushes.... And I don't see them on Dap's site. The ones I was talking about are offset bushings.
I don't know, wouldn't it be easier to get castor corrected and offset trailing arms and a DC DS? I know it's a lot of money but will probably last longer than some slanted bushings.

Todd, I can't speak for the wedges, but I favour bent an reinforced arms. There are several sources for these arms, and I am one of them. PM me if you're interested in the product.
bowtracer 08-17-2006, 09:37 AM I have a set I would be willing to sell. new w/ instructions.
