well i hope this pic works.

the tires are 33 on there now and since the engine and tranny have been put in it has setteld a couple of inches.

I will be running 35" mtrs when done. I am wondering what kinda trimming/ cutting would be best. I thought about just opening up the arch more on the rear. Or should i just straight cut it all the way to the back?

What do you think?

i will have to rig up some sort or fender flares for the street if i want to take it to meetings and such.

I have tj fender flairs somewhere if you think using them may be a option. The rear is moved back 4" the front is moved forward enough to give me a 92.5" wheelbase.
Sorry if the pic is too big.

Thanks

Personally I dont like the look of trimming all the sheet metal, I like the rounded fender look

Heres what mine look like. Its smoother then it looks

I think you're going to have to cut it straight back. Just sitting there the back of your tire is about even with the back of the jeep. When the supension gets loaded, it's going to move towards the rear a couple inches.

it doesn't even look like you have a shackle on it yet. i think your going to have to cut. best way is to do like the rest of us and go out and stuff it up in there.

Here is a little fender and rocker panel trimming:eek:
The rear tube work for the bed rails and fenders are nearly done, so the sheet metal will be welded tonight, and it willl be nearly complete, and ready for the rattle can.

I know when I ramped mine it was hitting on that corner, SO I eliminated it all together.

If its still an issue I will take about 2 or 4 inches off the bottom.

another example.

The biggest reason for me cutting like this, was rust removal:D Lots easier than bondo, that will just crack and fall on the trail:D

Hey Dennis if I understand you right you want to keep the rear arch. I agree that is a good idea. I would make a template of the front curve out of cardboard and then just draw it on the rear fender until you like it then cut away as much as possible.I think if you try that you will find your tire doesnt stuff to the top of the wheelwell anyway.

I Moved the shackle hangers to the outside of the bumper. I would say I moved it a good 4" back.

Yeah I need to keep the wheel arch as much as possible. We have a few guys in our club that have the sqaured wheels like above and they are constantly getting harrassed by the local law enforcement.

I found my tj flairs and was able to mock up the amount i would need to cut out. And with my opening being small from the factory the tj flairs would go all the way to the rear of the body and center up the opening too.

I think I will try this first. It shouldnt nail the wheel well when stuffage occurs. If it does I will stll have metal there to take out.

I like the straight cut rear corners, but I have got to try to keep it somewhat legal.

I will post pics of what it looks like next week somtime.

Take care.

I cut mine similar to Steve's, but I stopped my turn down about 3-4" above where it would go to and cut straight back from there. I don't know if I'm explaining it so you will understand though.
