I scored some tanks today.
Can these be converted over to a power tank set up?
I remember reading about someone making their own. Are these the right kind of tanks. They have a business name (COKE) on them. Will this create problems in getting them filled.

I would ask the place that fills the tank about the coke thing. I heard long ago they just take those back no matter how you got it.

There owned by Coke A Cola Atlanta and no legit gas supplier will fill them. :D You can't own them, there scraped when they wont pass a hydro test. Trying to get them filled may get you a visit from the Sheriff.

Depending on where you got them you can get them refilled. I have tanks at work exchanged out by Airgas regulary. They are used as a back up system if are main 400lb tank goes empty. So take the tank with the least amount of marking on in. If you are really worried about ask a local fast-food place who fills their CO2 and go there and act like you are a manager of some place and you need to get it refilled.

The tank on the right in the first pic looks exactly like the one I use.

Just paint the damn thing so they can't see the logo, and you're good to go!

I bought one like that for a couple bucks from a flea market. Just use some bondo, sand paper and paint to cover it up. :D

There is a bunch of stuff stamped on top. Do they need all this info to fill them? I don't want to waist my $ on "Herculiner" to find out They won't fill them.

I've got the red one,used it for work and had it filled all time at couple of different fire extinguisher places.Never had a problem even at the place where I pay cash.:)

Just go to a local welding supply store and they should fill it for ya. Don't cover the numbers on the top. There the pressure test dates that the shop will look for before they fill it. It has to be tested every 7 yrs. I just checked and it's going to cost $10 to fill my 20 # tank. I like your idea on the Herculiner. Just try al they can do is say no. Just tell them you got it a flee market or yard sale.

I don't know where Dennis got his but mine came from Coke so there OBVIOUSLY isn't anything illegal about it.:flipoff2:

I just took mine in today to get refilled and it was out of date. So the guy gave me one that looks just like the red one, it just doesn't have the black guard on it. No the one I had was not a power tank, I traded a nitrogen tank for it. Btw it cost $10 to refill and if I wanted the same tank back it would have cost me $15 to get it tested and taken 2 weeks. The reason the guy gave me the new tank was the one he gave me last year was out of date even then and I didn't notice until now. Also the test is only good for 5 yrs not 7 like I said before.
