Well it didn't bend...
I am currently running an SG 3 link in my truck with a Toy third member. Since the Toyota doesn't have any place to bolt the steering guard to it has remained unteethered. The concern has been thta this steering guard might bend in the event of a serious emergency stop..
Coming back from lunch today I was cruising along the Highway at the posted speed (65) I observed someone pulling out from behind a truck turning right onto the coming crossroad and yes she decided that it might be fun to see how fast I could stop, pulled right in front of me!! So I demonstrated, with all the brakes locked up and steering away from the little white car I managed to keep my composure and avoid hitting her and the the pack of bicycles on the other side of the road (this is Boulder county) I came to a complete stop about 30 feet beyond her car... I hopped out and took a look at the steering guard... Still straight!! Then I promptly went to check and see if the other driver had realized what a stupid move she had just made, she was apologetic, shaken but okay. Good she lived through this day I think... Had I not steered away I would have hit her square in the Drivers door.. The big SG bumper would have slid over the top and some mighty interesting physics would have happened..
And D90 brakes are far superior to stock Disco versions for sure.
Hey and the Steering guard didn't bend...

I was curious if anyone was running the 3-link with a Toy third.

What tires are you running, did they flatspot? And what happened to the girlscouts selling lemon-aid?

Glad to hear the Disco made it out unscathed Keith.
And sorry again about the f-up with trying to meet up with you. Blame my mate (I do). Will have to be next time...
The Chaf guard looks like new again but we still need a new Grill...

We've got a Toy diff under a junk truck in the WT part of town... No officer, I wasn't stealing this truck, just the rear differential:flipoff2:

Haa Haa Darwinism, I had to stop... I just got my airbag painted and I did'nt want to ruin it!!
The tires 35/1250-15 MTR's Siped bout 1/3 worn off with numerous chunks missing, I looked for flat spots because of all the smoke, it think that while the tires where smoking and howling wildly they where still turning a bit, I was trying to modulate them so I'd like to take credit but I'm thinking its all the brakes could do,, they slowed me down pretty quick.. The girlscouts? Dude this is Boulder county, that's illegal!
No troubles Ben , a few weeks of fighting off bandito's can make a guy want to move on quickly.. Roversdown south has the Grills for $45 new..
We've send jigs out all over the place, the product seems to working very well, now if I can only get some of them back..

Keith - I may have mentioned that Dave had a (new) girlfriend waiting in Canada, so he was the "driving force" (pun intended - behind the quick trip). But he is paying the price now - a bad engine rebuild in OZ (dodgy head gasket and incorrectly fitted injector pump - resulting in heavily retarded timing), coupled with working the engine hard in the head winds from hell in wyoming, meant that the head gasket blew a few days after we got to Canada.
Is the green grill still in existence??? RDS may well be cheaper than the Canadian guy for a new one though.
Hey Ben! Where have you been?
Bill.
Hi Bill - I have been doing a "Pan-American" trip (almost) in an OZ-built 110 (3.9D). Had a great time!!! A mate of mine drove Vancouver-Panama-Vancouver. We flew over and met him in Guatemala on the way back.

You didn't happen to cruise through Alaska recently? There aren't very many Defenders around here and I have spotted a tan 110 with foreign plates the other day.

Well done Ben. The sort of trip I have always dreamed of doing.
Bill.

No, we were in a Blue 110 County (built in OZ). We didn't make it up that far, maybe next time. The friend we stayed with in Vancouver did the trip up there in a IIA though...
Bill, it was great fun, I can highly reccommend it...
Sorry for the hijack Keith - I will have to post my own thread...

It's a good thing you don't have that ultra reliable Land Rover ABS.
