I finally got my tubing off the floor. I built this rack over the last few days. Here are a couple pics.......

An overview....I needed to mount the tubing high so that it would clear the door to the other room in the shop.

That's a great use of space. I've always hated losing floor space to material storage.

if you are willing to take a suggestion, pick a side to hold your shorter pieces and add either another support to split the distance, and or add some expanded metal to one section so you can still keep 2-6' lengths off the ground

I like it. When I redo my garage layout, I'm shelving (no pun) the 4x4 posts & 3/4" iron pipe supports.
I especially like how you carried it over the door - I'll be snatching that one...

Man that's pretty cool...I don't really keep long pieces of tubing like that tho. (usually just buy it as I need it) but Iv'e been trying to figure out something that could hold sizes from 8' down to a foot or two, Iv'e always got a ton of those little cut off pieces. Just got them staqcked in a corner now.

Sweet idea to get it way up high and out of the way since you have the room up there.

I am about to build mine. Thanks, that gets me inspired to get moving on it. Damn near busted my ass yesterday trying to walk on my tubing on the floor.

it is a nice rack but how hard is it to get the tubing up on the top shelf? it looks like it would be a pain unless your a giant or something

It is not too had to get the tubing on and off. The only exception is the 1.5" .250 wall DOM for links. The sticks are almost 22' and real heavy.

No TIG on this project. It was kind of nice to MIG something for a change. I was a bit rusty on the first couple beads and it was good to get the practice.
