: spring over or spring under?
looney69z28 08-11-2006, 01:47 AM i was wondering some of the advantages and disadvantages of both, and which one would be better for pure trail use? i know that spring over will get you better clearance, but will also have more axle wrap. i have also heard that spring under will ride and flex better, but ride quality does not concern me.
MNBen 08-11-2006, 02:29 AM WTF is it Tuesday in your world. See that section that says Jeep talk for newbies delete this and post there.:shaking:

mtroy 08-11-2006, 06:58 AM Boy, did you ever step into the deep end of the pool!
Spend some time searching here and in other sites like www.jeepsunlimited.com (less hardcore, but good info when you are just starting out). The SOA/SUA discussion is a long one and the answers as to which one is right for you is individual.
You will find that most folks here will be on the SOA side of things since they are running big tires and are looking for the most clearance and flex they can get. Me? I am a bit different but you can follow the link in my sig and read why I am doing what I am doing on my YJ project.
I am way less hardcore than most folks here, so I have my own reasons for going SUA.

bowtied_micky 08-11-2006, 11:36 PM 2 inchs? 4 inch blocks front and rear. thats how i roll bitches
PizzaFarno 08-11-2006, 11:43 PM I say spring under, with guards. Works fine with clearance, and is way more stable on sharp trails when you have to climb on sides. Thats what i got, and is also drivable on the road :) We run with 35' tires and these, works fine on the rubicon with a driver thats not loaded. We only hit one major rock, when we accidentally went threw some kind of ''alley'' instead of a bypass and smacked our front end.
Otherwise, spring under is fine and more safe.
resqme 08-12-2006, 10:26 AM A) this belongs in noob
B) advice from someone who went through the rubicon...once

holy cow you run 35' tiress!!!! Where did you get those??:D
PizzaFarno 08-12-2006, 09:41 PM hey, we used to have 31' tires :D and they still worked
what are most of you running? We drive it there, so they have to be drivable.
I always thought they were pretty big :barf:
resqme 08-12-2006, 10:31 PM I caught the 35 foot tires thing too, but thought he'd had enough. I guess not:grinpimp:
