my '85 k10 ball joints are shot, and as i continue to drive the results are a blown warn premium hub! do i have to pull the hub, rotor, backing plate to change the lower ball joint? it looks like a pain in the a@#. :rolleyes:

The first thing to do is to buy a manual! Then you need to find the spanner socket to adjust the upper-balljoint-preload and a 1-5/16" socket for the upper balljoint nut (alot of people don't have a 1-5/16" socket...they are 3/4" drive). You will need to tear the WHOLE front end apart (hubs, spindles, axleshaft, knuckle...) to change the lower balljoint. Might as well change the other while you are in there. You will either have to buy a balljoint press from Harbor Freight or take the nuckle to a shop and have them press out the old ones and press the new ones in...have fun!
