: SWB chop to UTE?

hey folks,

I've been toying with the idea of chopping the arse end off my swb and making it into a tray back.

no particular reasons for doing so, other than I'd like to and to be different. not many aussie zookers do crazy mods, most stick with body lift and 30" rubber.

I'm currentlt running 32" BFG Mt's spua and will be going yj/cj shackle reversal spoa in the next couple of weeks.

am lengthening the wheel base to around 100" and though that while I was at it I might as well cut the arse off it.

anyone got any tips, how to's, links to sites or general info I might be able to use?

would be greatly appreciated.

The flogging part would be pretty easy, I doubt the rear flexes much at all with those Bronco radius arms.

The spray on liner paint job is pretty nifty though!

Do a search here for Jason Coker's rig, it has a tubed out rear, and is definitely NOT a poser rig!!

you guys are calling dean bullock a poser.....ummm k:flipoff2: ........he is a regular competitor in UROC and came in 11th last year out of a field of over 50!!! this guy can wheel with the best of them!!! i love that rig.....who wants to post action shots cuz i got hundreds!! his suspension is trick!! no he does not have the stock ends on the bronco arms, they have johnny joints grafted onto them and he has only ever broken one!! this rig is the most well built and well thrashed rigs in utah. i got nothing but respect for the guy becaause his work is clean and he wheels it like it is stolen!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

this is what it looks like now.........should be heaps better once I get rid of the 3" springs, 2" body, 4 point cage and replace it all with:

cj/yj springs
missing links
panhards
custome tray back
6 point cage
twin lockers
nurfs
6:1 xfer gears
custom tube front bar

http://www.users.bigpond.com/newflavour/ormeau/images/ormeau17_jpg.jpg

it also has spidertrax rear dics, swft gti seats, super gusetted xfer arms, sqaure headlights (as it's a drover not a zook as such), whinch bar (for sale at the moment), half door hinges, highly modified 1.3ltr engine, 32" bfg's on f100 rims and the list goes on and on and on.

it was a frame up rebuild, soon to do it all over again.

what better way to keep your skills sharp than multiple frame off rebuilds!!!:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: looks like you are gunning for a major nice rig to replace the major nice rig you already got there!:D

The other way to go is get your hands on a maruti cab . They are the indian import LWB ute/tray tops the build quality was pretty questionable but if all you need is the frame and cab they can be found pretty cheap. I would go with lengthening the frame from a SWB to a LWb

Here's mine a 87 LWB tray top that I've played with abit
