Nice hit and run:flipoff2:
I used the TSM kit on the back of a narrow track D44 in my CJ7 for a few years. It fit well, was bolt on and worked pretty well. The one thing I really disliked was the GM integrated parking brake. It stinks and never worked well. The auto ratchet of the calipers didn't seem to work, and they could be a real pain to bleed. Most of my gripes (maybe all of them) centered around the calipers.
There are DIY pages around on how to put a rear disc conversion together using parts and pieces... Rick Boiros did it on his rear CJ7 D44 axle, and I know he at least lurks on POR. Don't know where the webapge is though.
WheelingPiazza 04-24-2002, 11:23 AM Do a search, this was brought up lastweek..
I use the TSM and I ahve posted pictures so do a search and you will see them
i'm serious ...yes i am trying to make my buddy some business but tim at shakerbuilt has beautiful work done. i picked up from him a caliper bracket for my rear 60 with 14 bolt outers and tsm wanted 300$ i paid half of that for an even stronger bracket check him out...
The Rockslut 04-24-2002, 12:33 PM I just made my own from off the shelf parts. This was on my rear 70 and did the same thing on a 14 bolt.
I used 1/2 ton caliper brackets, half done GM calipers and F350 rotors (8 lug). Total cost was $150.
Only real difference would be the rotor selection for the 5 or 6 lug guys.
I say search and do it yourself.

Well, for the D44, at least, the price that was quoted includes the rotors, not jut the brackets. I don't know it this is the case with your setup.
swamper36 04-24-2002, 01:16 PM tj7 i talked to you buddy and he does not make the setup for a dana 44
Andy 911 04-24-2002, 04:59 PM I run the tsm kit on my scout 44, bolted up just fine but the caddy caliper e-brakes do suck! but they look good enough to fool the fuzz, I'd like to get a tranfercase output e-brake aswell. but it is only $300 so it's not like your putting out a large pile of cash. I'd buy the kit again if I was doing it again. but i'd be on a 60!
damn i wish i could by that set -up but i need cables for inspection...
Eric Ruhl 04-24-2002, 05:20 PM If you want a removable 5x5.5 rotor then TSM is the way to go. If you don't carry spare shafts, don't mind carrying spare shafts with rotors already on them, or don't mind pressing out/in studs on the trail if you do break a shaft then skip TSM. Mounting the rotor on the inside can be done for cheap. With TSM you pay for the convenience of not needing rotors on all your spare shafts, etc. AFAIK they're the only source for 5x5.5 rotors that fit over the Scout 44 axle flange. For me that convenience was worth the added cost. As mentioned above, all this info has been covered repeatedly in the past. For further questions, please search first.

junger 04-25-2002, 05:41 AM There are a couple sources of rotors that are 5 on 5.5" that will fit over a standard scout or jeep dana 44 rear axle flange of about 7 1/16"... do a search.

AFAIK, you are mistaken. Do a search :flipoff2: TSM has their's custom made. It's a Chevy front rotor with the 5x5.5 pattern.
junger 04-25-2002, 02:57 PM Nope, but it's understandable that you're questioning me cause of my newbie status...

Keith Haw 04-25-2002, 05:44 PM Did the search. What rotors are you using on that cj7 ?
Keith
Eric Ruhl 04-26-2002, 12:19 AM Looks like something ancient. What's the width of the rotor? Is it an old CJ front rotor perhaps? Interesting to see a 5x5.5 rotor exists that actually fits over the flange. Any machining required on the back side of the rotor or the axle flange? Even with the Chevy rotors TSM still machines the back side to get a nice flat mounting surface.
Weld on Caliper brackets for less then 10 Bucks.

junger 04-26-2002, 05:57 AM Nope, slightly rusted but not ancient at all.
I ended up listing all 5x5.5" trucks that had 4 wheel drive. From there I looked at the rotors of each one... the one in the picture is a suzuki sidekick rotor from 1992. It's smaller in thickness than the 7/8" cj rotor at 5/8" which I like since you need less braking power in the rear. Early suzuki rotors (80s) will also fit but they're even thinnner, I think 1/2" and they're not vented. If you're looking for a really beefy rotor for a Scout 44, Dodge 1500 RAM front rotors from a 2000-2001 will fit without any modifications... these are as thick as the thick cj rotors. I have a pair I'd be willing to sell off of a 2000 RAM 4x4. New they cost 120 each from the dealership... make me an offer if anyone is interested. I might be able to get a pic of them...
Yep, the suzuki fits without ANY mods... and is really a sweet fit. However, there are disadvantages to running them. AA-mfg does not carry a weld-on bracket and it's very hard to find e-brake calipers that fit a 5/8" rotor. If anyone knows of any, pleasse let me know.
Any q's?

Keith Haw 04-30-2002, 12:44 AM Junger, Thanks for the info. So what did you use for a caliper and bracket?
