my uncle has a lincoln pro-core 100 welder in his shop that he doesn't really know how to use. i wanted to attempt to make a rear bumper with it but i'm not sure about the settings (even though there are only 2). i'm pretty sure the numbers (1-10 i think) are for heat and wire speed but what the hell are the letters A, B, C, and D for?
also am i going to get enough penetration with welder to do an SAS in the future or will i need somthing bigger?
this is probably a dumb question but i seached here and google with no luck and besides this is the newby section after all

you need a bigger welder if your going to start welding stuff that holds the truck together, for bumpers yeah it will work i guess. just set it on tap D and about 3-3.5 on the wire speed and have fun going very slow. We have one of these we take on trail runs

I know it can be done, and I know it has been done, but I don't recommend a 120v welder for suspension work. It's just too risky. get a decent 220v welder, even an arc unit, to do suspension work.
numbers are for wirespeed only, letters are for current setting. Just prcatice a lot and you can do a lot with it.

Ajust it to the hi heat setting, start welding and ajust your wire speed till it sounds like it cooking bacon. :smokin:

Open up the cover on the side of the welder. It give you all the settings you need. FYI, that welder is only good for about 1/8" steel. I wouldn't recommend doing a SAS with it. And i you need to ask what the numbers and letters are for, you surely shouldn't be doing a SAS with that thing before you take a welding class.
