Is it possible, I've read about some of the problems with the axle. Can a solid pinion spacer be made to work in place of the crush sleeve. I know it has been done in other rear applications. Axle bearings are another issue I have heard of, has anyone ever looked to see if there might be a stronger bearing or something different to keep them alive under the truck. I'm thinking of trying to keep mine in the truck for a little while longer. I have 36" Iroks might go to 39.5" when those wear out. Let me know if any of you have pondered on this and what you might have come up with. Thanks:beer:

I thought about it and I believe it was Reider Racing that told me they thought someone was working on a kit to do just that many years ago. I decided that it was much easier to swap in a D60 or a 8 3/4" than to mess with the 9 1/4". Some guys like the 9 1/4" and my dislike of the axle is well known but I have to say that I had my 9 1/4s apart pretty often because of my driving style and they were all behind relatively stock 318s or 360s with 727 automatics and the 8 3/4" I have behind my built 383 4 speed W100 has not even been apart once, and I beat on it a long time.

Thanks for the response, I have read your opinion of the 9.25 before. I wonder what would be involved in adapting the 8.75 into my '96. I have a truck housing from an unknown year and that would open up a lot more gear choices. The rear wheel ABS sensor is the only thing that might require some ingenuity to adapt.
