the rig is a 1990 RRC
alright, I can't seem to find the dead short I have in the drivers side tail light.
The front marker light went to, the fuse blows as soon as you turn on the marker/tail lights. Even if I unplug front or rear the fuse blows.
also my trans indicator light is on when no lights should be on.
whats the connection here and were to start, I have tried everything I can think of.

Have you done anything to you tailpipe. When I cut off my resonator, I failed to realize the exhaust gas would pool under the rear quarter panel enough to melt the insulation on the wires. A few years later the brake light switch caught fire as a result of high resistance n the circuit.
Do you realize how boring these trucks would be without Lucas electrics.

look at the liscense plate light. The bulb socket is prone to corosion and will fawkin' turn you into a frustrated dooling idiot tyring to figure out what is going on.
I have no idea what the trans light has to do with any of this.

I think it might be at the switch due to the comment about the shift indicator light being on. Also, occasionally, where the wiring harness runs along the a-pillar on the right side, the wires become chafed and short against the dash pad and the pillar.

thanks guys, I will check all suggestions.
yes the resonator is cut off, but has not been for very long. Tail pipe turn down is going on this weekend.
Yes the licence plate light is kind of fawked
I will check the wires going through the A pillar
and yes Lucas wiring is a blast!!
I still love this rig, I am a sick man.
When I find the cause I will post up the fix. It is a dead short some were.

whoopsie!!
well the hot exhaust gases has melted the wiring.
I will rewire the section and put on a new exhaust tip in place of the cut off resonator.
who would of thought that would happen,
Rover nOOb mistake. :shaking:
at least it is an easy fix and a lesson learned the hard way, again.

Keep in mind you have fuel pump wiring in the same portion of the loom.

I am definitely making sure everything is out of the way of getting damaged again with a wiring loom holder and an exhaust tip is going on with a turn down as far back as I can go with out getting it damaged when out wheeling.
Lesson learned and will not be repeated.
