I have a D60 FF and am wanting to take off the massive drums and put on a disc brake kit, should I go weld on or bolt on, and what are some good kits?

I want to this as well. I just got my axles, and haven't made it this far in my research. I'd like to know what the options are too.

I had the BTF bilt on brackets on my 60 and it worked perfect. everything fit nice and easy. But im going to try the cheaper weld ons next. They are a little cheaper

I used a set of home made brackets similar to bill Vista's excelent writup on it...mine and his were both 14 bolts but I guess as long as the rotor is the right thickness it should work...mine works fine but you have to spend some time mocking it up and such

Used 9" big hole/big bolt housing flanges turned to compensate for pinion tilt and a Wilwood universal kit from Summit Racing re-drilled to 5 on 5.5. This is not the cheapest way to go by any means (about $700), but you end up with a 4 piston light weight disc brake that will skid 40's in a panic stop.

i beleive shawn at great lake offroad sells a set either bolt on or weld on...i myself will probably go with bolt on just for the ease of of it...

I used Blue Torch weld on brackets, they worked out really well. I would recomend them to anyone.:smokin:

I'm using a set of bolt on brackets from a guy on eBay. Just search Dana 60 and you should find them. They use all the brake parts from a 1976 Chevy 3/4 ton truck which is easy to find and very cheap. I have less than $300.00 in the whole setup. Buy the calipers loaded which comes with brake pads and caliper bolts. Rotors just slip on your axle flanges. Get a set of banjo bolts and brakes hoses. Get a master cylinder for a mids 70s Corvette being they are 4 wheel disc. I would suggest taking of your proportioning valve and replacing it with a Wilwood manual adjust for the rear brakes beacause you factory valve wouldn't give you the right pressures for the rear. That might set you back $75.00 extra but the adjustablity is worth it.
