I had a guy come look at my engine today. I was told it was a Chevy Tall deck 427. Well he says its a tall deck 366. Is there any way other than the block case # to tell the differance betewn a 366 and 427 Tall deck?

I had a guy come look at my engine today. I was told it was a Chevy Tall deck 427. Well he says its a tall deck 366. Is there any way other than the block case # to tell the differance betewn a 366 and 427 Tall deck?

Get the block #'s on the back of the block - left side then go to this site and the numbers will tell you if it's a 366T or a 427T. This is the only way I know other then pulling it apart and measuring the bore.

He looked at it for two minutes and said it was a 366. I will look to see if I can find the cast # tonight
