Now, I know this has to be somewhere out beyond the "SEARCH" button, but looked and couldn't find it.
I'd like a link or pics here to show what needs to be done to a Saginaw box to prep for hydro assist. I've seen the WTOR pressure boost mod, I'm talking about where exactly do I tap the holes for a ram.
And since I've got you looking, what size ram- 1.5 or 2", is recommended for highway driving to the trails. 39.5 TSL's.

O.K. I got the top off, tapped and back on, I've got the retaining ring off of the front, now how do I get the front cover off, there doesn't seem to be any way to pop it off. The retaing ring was a b*tch, I think I pretty well destroyed it, are they all about 3/16" diameter? Is there somewhere to buy a new one?
Thanks in advance

Why, I would like to do it myself, I just need a little advice on how to get it apart.
As far as I could find, the ring is a GM only item, visit your local dealer, was about 12$ with new O rings too. To help pull off the aluminum end cap, drill a small hole into it, (the center) and screw in a sheet metal screw. A small ammount of twisting (tightening the screw) will work the cap loose, and it will then fall out. The cap is just stuck as it has probably been together some 20+ years like mine was.:)

I bought a rebuild kit for my box at Napa that came with the ring.

All I had to do was crank the steering wheel to the right (before removing the top cover) and the round end cap popped right out.

You have to force it out using the rack piston. Just turn the pitman arm with a little force and it pops right out. This is what the Technical Service manual says and I just did it 2 days ago.
