I just tried out my new towbar on my YJ, the first corner I took the wheels flopped to the left and would not straighten out . I have a tracklock in the front I think is causing resistance in the front left hub. I think the extra load in a corner is causing the problem. The directions say leave the front steering wheel unlocked so I did. Anyone else run into this this problem, I'm thinking I am fawked here? I'd love to get a trailer, but lack storage space:(.
what? yah mean you dont have locking hubs? if you still have that stock d30 why are you towing the jeep. honestly i have only flat towed vehicles with locking hubs so i cant help yah

THat thing is like $800. By the time you install one of those kits, you could have changed axles all together. I think they use Bronco II hubs for that conversion too.:barf:

I used to tow a YJ with a 30 and lockright in the front with no problems. Leave the steering unlocked and everything in neutral. Is your towbar perfectly flat to the tow vehicle? Something else is going on here...

HMMMM!!!!!!
The bar is at about a 15 degree angle down tword the tow vehical, I couldn't see how that would cause the tires to over-turn in a left corner. Maybe because the left side axle has no disconnect ?????? BTW: I'm running 33x12.5's on 10' rims, but I don't see what that would change either.

I flat tow my TJ, it has a dana 30, no hubs, detroit locker. Tows fine.
maybe it's your alignment.
BTDT. Didn't get a t-shirt. The t-case in the YJ doesn't have a true neutral position in it. In my case I added the Tera 2LO when I did a SYE and that solved it completely. You can also just disconnect the front driveshaft and tie it up to the frame. After trying just about everything else with mine, the 2LO was the best answer at under $200 and the extra benefit of 2LO comes in handy for tight turns.
