I recently bought an 86 1 ton C & C 6.2 truck, all that was left was the frame, axles and transmission and t case. The tranny was broken so I figured I would just find another and put that in it's place. But when I pulled them apart I found 32 splines instead of the 16 I was expecting....I have never heard of this, and I couldn't find another to match, so I ended up buying another whole 16 pline 4 spd 205 combo.

I was told that the 205 will fit a TH400 ? And I am also wondering if I should try and take the output shaft out of the broken 4 spd and put it in the good one and use the 32 spline 205 or just run the 16 spline ? Is there a big difference in strength ?

yes the 465/205 after 80ish where 32spl.

yes the 32spl 205 will fit the 400 IF IT IS THE FEMALE 32spl input.

yes you will be better off useing the 32spl setup.

but NO you did not pickup a 16spl, they are 10spl fwiw.
