: Any OX locker ?'s out there?
JeepinIan 04-24-2002, 07:39 PM I just met w/ one of the owners of OX-locker, he is going out of town and will be back in about 2 weeks. I mentioned that some people on this board have 's about the OX. Post them here and I will answer what I can now, and relay the other to him and get his answers and post them myself,
offroadr35 04-24-2002, 07:47 PM dana 60.....when?....
JeepinIan 04-24-2002, 07:52 PM It's already out there. The problem right now is quantity.
BadDog 04-24-2002, 07:59 PM And PRICE!!! Christ! You would think the things are solid gold! Actually, that would probably cost less...

That is Superior's problem. OX does not set the retail price.

I will ask about the Tera cover.
THere are 3 different controls for the OX locker.
1: The original, according to Rubin it is the best for the SERIOUS wheeler.
2: The new manual which has a spring loaded fork that will ease the engagment concern.
3: electric controled cable.
NOTE: All three have the same internals, and the same cable. The control of the cable is the only difference.
JeepinIan 04-24-2002, 08:41 PM PS, they are testing the newest one, for the model 20 rear. It is mounted in a CJ right now, and is being tested.
When all is done, the CJ will be going up for sale. OX front & rear, Ramsey winch. As soon as i have the details, I will post them.
i want ...i want....i want...
emailed ya dude let me know...
Rockcrusher 04-24-2002, 09:12 PM What's the status on the Ford 9 inch unit?
The Ox website lists it as "In development" and all I get from ron@superioraxle.com are auto replies.

I don't know. I will ask when Rubin gets back from out of town.
JeepinIan 04-25-2002, 06:22 AM DO NOT ASK TO BE "TEST VEHICLE" OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. YOU WILL GET NO FREE SH!T FROM OR THRU ME.
I AM NOT GETTING PAID FOR THIS, AND AM NOT INVOLVED IN THE COMPANY. THEY ARE FRIENDS OF MINE & I HATE TO SEE THEM GETTING A BAD RAP 'CAUSE PEOPLE ARE MIS-INFORMED.

No, it is OX's problem when the price is too high.
I know I wanted one for my front 60 - but bought an ARB because of price and lack of availability of the OX.
It is OX's problem because THEY are losing revenue....
randii 04-25-2002, 06:59 AM If I hear one more twit bleating that he'll 'help' a vendor test a product, I'll SCREAM. Seriously, who the hell do you think you are? I know who you are trying to 'help' and it ain't the vendor.... :(
If a vendor needs this type of 'help,' they'll ask for it. First, they'll ask their friends and family, then, if they still haven't found the right test vehicle, they'll ask for friends of friends. Maybe even ask a magazine or webzine to test the product, or approach a competitor to run it for exposure....
Re-read that paragraph, and look for the consistency: They'll ask. If you are asking them, especially on a public bulletin board, and through friend-of-a-friend intermediaries, you're unlikely to find success.... especially when you have such nice things to say about the company (what kind of company is this? is it run outta basemen... thses scrap - I'm sure your testing would be just as thorough as your spelling  )

Jakesteramalamajama 04-25-2002, 08:07 AM Hey, I'll offer up my Jeep as a test vehicle if they want... :flipoff2:
I've got them front and rear in Waggy 44s under my YJ.
I'd like to see some information on the electric actuation system and these new "self-adjusting" shifters I read about in someone's post on this board.
Oh, and tell them they cost too much. :flipoff2:
Thanks,
Jake
JeepinIan 04-25-2002, 09:00 AM I'd like to see some information on the electric actuation system
I did not have time to really check the electric actuation system out. When Rubin gets back, I will be getting some pics of all the different actuators that they have.
and these new "self-adjusting" shifters I read about in someone's post on this board.
The "self-adjustong" is new to me. I have heard nothing of this from Rubin. I will find out in 2 weeks or so.

Well let's see, a few of the fellow club members were out at MOAB earlier this week and I know for a fact that at least threee of them have the OX 60 in thier rigs.

Here's where I read it:

Here's the relevant quote:

I would assume yours will be fine now that you have replaced it. By the way, you can get that set screw in brass at Ace Hardware for 15 cents.
FYI,
I believe this adjustment issue is about to go the way of the wind, as the Ox Trax folks have redesigned the entire shifter assembly.
The new one is said to be 100% self adjusting. While I have not seen this unit yet I am expecting to have one in a few days to test.
It is my understanding that there will be some type of replacement program available to Jeeper's who have the current style shifter assembly and who would like to upgrade to the new self adjuster, but I do not have any details on it.
Frank
Maybe Frank could elucidate...

Thanks, Ian, I appreciate the help.

Bgcj5 04-25-2002, 05:12 PM I ordered my OX for my front 44 last thur and the sales person said it would be 3 weeks till it is shipped. Do u have any clue as to the big delay? is it maybe cause of the new auto adjusting cable and lack of the new product?. Any insight would be appreciated casue I am looking forward to reciving my Ox.

I do not know the reason or the costs for sure right now and I will not be able to get any info for at least 2 weeks.
cbassett 04-25-2002, 07:27 PM Bgcj5, where'd you buy you your D44 Ox and how much $?
Bgcj5 04-25-2002, 07:54 PM I had to go through Quadratech unfortunitly cause Superior doesn't sell direct. I think it was like 740 or something plus 100 or so for the cable. I'm not sure exactly cause I ordered front gears at the same time so I totaled 1129 including shipping.
Demon4x4 04-26-2002, 05:43 AM Do they have any plans of making a longer cable? I think that hte longest one that they offer currently is a mere 100 inches. I don't feel comfortable with this length of cable going all the way to the rear of the truck and having enough slack to not bind in suspension travel.

I don't know. What kind of truck are we talking about? When I see Rubin, I will ask.
randii 04-26-2002, 11:45 AM Ian, respectfully, you ***REALLY*** need to get out of the middle of this. I know you are trying to help, and I respect that, but you are gonna wind up having people pissed at you and pissed at OX, and OX is going to eventually be frustrated at you for speaking for them.
Check this link: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49361&perpage=39
Or just skip to the moderator's statement at the bottom: So, from that we learn that if someone wants to post, let them find a way to do it for themselfs! Because otherwise it's just a bunch of hearsay, period ......
Many of the folks on this board are VERY demanding consumers, and you've seen in just a few days the questions that they have... there's no practical way for you to know all the answers, especially in a young, changing business like OX is, and you're gonna wind up, one way or another, giving wrong information.
The best thing you can do, IMHO, is give out OX's phone number and extricate yourself from the middle of this. It'll just snowball.
Randii
Randii be speaking very wise words. The DRM suggests Ian listen to Randii :)
JeepinIan 04-26-2002, 04:24 PM Before I even started this thread, I let Rubin know what I wanted to do. He said to go ahead. Anything that I do not know, I am not going to answer until I speak w/ Rubin, who happens to be one of the owners of OX.
