Not my rig, for a friend, they want to do a 5-6" lift and trimming for 33's with tons of flex, i want to make a custom longarm front setup and use buggy springs and waggys in back. :D Has anyone built their own longarm or custom link setup for XJ? I am really trying to save them money, as they have about $500 to spend, so kits aren't an option. I read all the stuff on front leaf conversions, but cannot convince them to go this route. I know the basics of 4-link stuff, and am planning on just buying Coils, DOM, inserts, and heims. I just want to see what has been done, and what has worked. also, what coil rate? it is running the 4-liter.

Tomken did one recently... I've also seen some home grown ones that looked pretty nice...
The biggest issue is just getting the geometry better on the front... leave those rear leafs... they work!

I know a friend Ken (from southern Maine) just installed some long arms on his XJ. I don't know if it was a kit or not, but the design looked fairly simple.
One long link from bottom of axle to transmission xmember.
One link from top of axle to middle of bottom link.
Kept the track bar.
Does this make sense?
(good luck, you can get some good local help here: www.neow.org )
Check out Brent's (http://jeepinjunkie.com) web site. Go to the Jeep Mods section and check out his longarms.

Why hasn't somone tried to put the straight bar to the top and then angle a bar to the botom as I am seeing people do on four link rears, I'm sure you would need to put new mounts on the housing, but it seemd like it would be worth it, you should be able to get it to be flat a 6 or 7" of lift.
