i have a 70 blazer that's going to need an engine rebuild (leaky seals ect.) before too long. i have a chance to get a vortec 350 for a good price but i need some advice on whether i should just rebuild the original or go with the vortec. i'm also wondering what i'd have to add or change out besides a computer. some basic questions:
-would i need a different starter?
-would the vortec work with the turbo 350 auto tranny?
thanks ahead of time for any advise.

What year is the vortec out of????
Get the starter that the Vortec has, yours should work, as long as the flywheel is the same.
The tranny is a bolt-up also, not sure where you would pull the vacuum for the tranny, from a Vortec though.
IMO, the Vortec will be a PITA to install, and make run right. I have had some Gremlins in my '96, that is stock, that took a bit to figure out. BUT if you are good with that sort of thing, go for it.
If you don't get out and do crazy off camber wheelin, I think the money would be better spent on turning your treefiddy in to a tree-eighty-tree.
ANother .02 from me. My '70 chev C-10 w/75,000 miles can spank my 96 K1500, only mods on both is exhaust.
