I know that everyone's first twitch-reaction is going to be, "Do a fawqin search!" Well, I did and some of my questions have not been covered, so hear me out.
What I need to know is this: Comparing the J. C. Whitney CJ 7-leaf rear spring pack vs. the J. C. Whitney Wagoneer 5-leaf front pack:
1) Which has more arch?
2) Which is longer?
3) What are the overall dimensions of each?
4) Which do people think is more ideal for a front soa on my CJ w/a 350?
5) Will the new CJ bushings that I have now fit the Wagoneer springs?
Thanks.
J. J.
All I can tell you is I bought a set of front replacement springs to go under a Scrambler I had and they were "ok", but nothing to write home about...

I think most of the dimensions and arches are close to the same between the springs. The key difference is the axle pin. The CJ pin is in the center of the spring and the Wagoneer pin is offset two inches, which will move your front axle foward 2 ".

If I chose to go with the Wagoneer springs and am using them on the front of my rig, shoudl I go with fronts or rears?

Fronts, the rears are huge long.
Waggy fronts are approx 46" long.
Here is a pic of some stock ones if that helps you at all....

I just got a pair delivered from them. Front Waggy's
Free Arch = 7"
Eye to Eye ( not following the arch ) = approx. 44 9/16" (mid eye - mid eye)
Eye to Eye ( following the arch ) = approx. 48 1/8" (mid eye - mid eye)
If you want any other measurements, I probably won't get them in for a couple of weeks.
Anyone else bend the main leaf on long side about 4" or 5" from the eye? Not just your normal small bend, like over 45 degrees. I did in both driver's side springs on the first trip with them. I thought I caught the shackles and pushed them in, but spotter said no. Any ideas on the cause? I'm going to call around locally to see if I can get them military wrapped. Maybe having to bend 2 leafs will keep it from happening again.
Also I know Northern has some interesting pricing tactics, JC Whitney does also. Basically the springs are $5 cheaper each if you use the internet part #, instead of the catalog #.

hey tommy
were you running bumpstops to prevent a negative arch? I think the need for bumpstops is intensified when using a spring with an offset centerpin, due to the leverage involved.

I just set the shocks to limit the up travel. They went into the negative about 2". Weird thing is that it only happened on the driver's side. Insanity tweaked out both sides and I don't think all of my 160 lbs would be the difference.

Aww, screw it. I just decided to go with the tried and true 44044's. Just ordered a set. Everyone was on back-order except Desert Rat. They still had a few sets. So if anyone wants em, better get em now!
