: My Zee Jay Project
Yota Tony 08-19-2006, 07:32 PM Yea, so it's still fairly stock but we all start somewhere right?
Started off as 94 Grand Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0L, 42RE trans and NP231J. All pretty paint and a clean body, till I bought it. First year I wheeled it 100% stock with some BFG MTs. Was surprised with what it could do so I decided to get some bigger rubber under it.
3.5" front to rear swap was done with some 33x12.50 X-terrians and 15x10 rims.

I started wheeling it more.

I never get to wheel as much as I'd like to thanks in apart to being busy whenever a run comes up :mad3:
I'm now working on more stuff for my junker so I can have more fun and beat it up even more.
Adding some protection (skids, rockers, front bumper)
Custom Short Arms
Ford 8.8 Rear w/ discs
4.88s and Aussie Lockers
Toss some 3.5" springs in the back and some 2" spacer to bring it to 5.5" all around
Put on 35s and trim it more
Anyhow, love it or hate it I don't care. Post up whatever comments you got.
I'll update this as I do work to it.
[Memphis] 08-19-2006, 07:35 PM looking good, the bumper will look killer on it :D
Yota Tony 09-07-2006, 08:01 AM Put my Aussie Locker in the D30 this past Friday. Had the whole front end apart in about a half hour, I'm way to use to pulling the shafts out now hah.
Installation was overly simple and I'm glad to be able to say I installed my own locker. I have no pics from the install (my camera is in Ireland with my parents) and I'm waiting on pics from a friend.
I got to test the locker out on the trail over the weekend. As a result of the one mud hole I did (coated my interior too) I'm not swearing off mud, it's messy and boring. Hit some wash outs which where a friggin blast, this isn't even the biggest wash out. Never got to the big one because my buddy's CJ only had 3 wheel drive on account of a buggered up hub.
Anyhow enough talking, here's pics of me in the wash out.

I scared the crap out of the girl friend in the off camber stuff too (her first time wheeling with me. She's got a TJ but doesn't do anything crazy on the trails with it).

Also picked up an 8.8 locally. It's got 3.73 gears, I believe an LSD and drum brakes. I wanted disks but the deal on it was too good to pass up.

It'll get an Aussie Locker, diff cover of some sort, 4.88s and some paint.
Enjoy!

Nice ZJ...now get it on some rocks :shaking: :flipoff2:
Yota Tony 09-07-2006, 08:51 AM hahahaha....
I'm doing more wash outs this weekend.
Not sure how it'll fair on rocks since I'm still open in the rear.
Benzz0 09-07-2006, 08:57 AM Not sure how it'll fair on rocks since I'm still open in the rear.
pffffffffffffft....plenty of folks are open front AND rear - just wheel it like it is now, run the tougher stuff as you get comfortable iwth it and THEN decide on the locker
hint: a poor man solution to a rear locker is you can pull the eBrake up a coule of clicks and use that as a limiting slip ;) not good for the brakes but if you have a trashlock in the rear it REALLY helps
Yota Tony 09-07-2006, 10:35 AM I've got nothing in the rear.
I'm definately up for trying some rocks though. I'll see what this weekend brings.
Nordic1 09-07-2006, 11:43 AM Sweet dude... are you going to long arm the thing?
Yota Tony 09-07-2006, 01:03 PM Yea, plan is to long arm it either after x-mas or earily spring. I'm starting to gather all the parts I need.
Going to run about 5.5" of lift and 36" Irok Radials.
Nordic1 09-07-2006, 01:55 PM 36" Irok Radials.
This will be run on the dana 30?
Yota Tony 09-07-2006, 07:19 PM Yup till it breaks or I might look for a d44.
I'm a lil nuts like that.
Nordic1 09-07-2006, 09:43 PM cool... I'd recommend something more like a 35" MT/R or similar tire that's a little less agressive than a swamper if you plan on holding onto that 30 for awhile... otherwise take it easy on the 30 and it should hold together
Yota Tony 09-08-2006, 07:23 AM Yea, I am a lil worried about the D30 with those tires. I might just get some Alloy shafts or spend the money on a Waggy D44 (but that means I need 6 lug shafts for my 8.8).
Yota Tony 11-20-2006, 06:56 PM Mr. Connecting Rod meet Mr. Oil Pan...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v87/G2Rac/Engine001.jpg
wranglerboy93 11-20-2006, 07:06 PM I'm assuming that's on yours? That sucks man. That will throw everything off for awhile I bet.
Yota Tony 11-20-2006, 07:22 PM I was going to park it anyhow. No it's just an excuse to build the whole fucking truck.
Yota Tony 11-21-2006, 08:39 AM Block is cracked down by the oil pan casting so the motor is toast.
Parking it for winter, I'll rebuild it in the spring.
