Nobody 04-24-2002, 10:20 PM Anyone had a problem with the bolts coming loose?
It's happened to mine twice since it was installed a year ago. The first time it was the transfer side, and now the tranny side.
Not really a big deal.....I guess this is more of a heads up to check your junk
welndmn 04-25-2002, 10:33 AM nope, but then again i have not checked them in a few years, i might look at them tonight
Nobody 04-25-2002, 10:43 AM I spent all day chasing down a few oil leaks.....went on a drive and a few hours later there was an oil spot on the driveway. I was like WTF. Gear oil! 2 of 3 were only finger tight, and I couldn't get to the 4th one. Will be fixing it today.
I also sheared off one of the diff cover bolts on my 44....I'm going to have to make one of those rings with counter sunk bolts.
Rear diff cover was leaking from rock rash too! Guess I need bigger tires.
needed to change the oil anyway.
IronBenderII 04-25-2002, 11:13 AM lock-tight!
Hey Nobody, Thanks for the heads up on the bolts. I'll have to check mine too. It's been over a year since I checked them.
Out of sight, out of mind.

hmm i hve a gear oil leak, but thats just my driveway lubracation system, its only a small drip, but now that i think about it, its coming from that area, i just never cared that much, but stoping it or slowing it down whould be nice
FearMe 04-26-2002, 09:37 PM It's got to be a vibration thing. I had the T-case bolts on mine come loose a couple of times. I had a steel adapter from Tom's. Probably not a bad idea to check bolts occasionally. Especiall on an offroad truck:flipoff2:
welndmn 04-29-2002, 02:11 PM well i went wheeling this weekend, never checked the bolts, but it did not fall out :D
some 297's did though :(
Nobody 04-29-2002, 02:41 PM I did a little wheelin myself. No more oil leak! I did crunch my new door though  damn tree just jumped out and :nuke: I got a real ass chewing when my wife tried to open the door......it was stuck and she broke a nail!

Yeah, I got to go wheeling this weekend too. Fortunately I didn't break anything but I do have a few more scrapes on the bottom of my 9" and I collected a few more dents on my SmittyBilt bumbers:eek:

welndmn 05-22-2002, 03:09 PM well my tranny leak went from drip to pour.
I crawled under and sure enough, all 4 bolts were loose, stupid allen heads too, make it hard to tighten with the crossmember still in place
jopes 05-22-2002, 04:00 PM Better you caught it now instead of flying down HWY4 on friday.
then again I think I would have some ductape to put it back together for ya. :flipoff2:
Nobody 05-22-2002, 04:05 PM At least you caught it before your transfer fell off :nuke:
I had to use vise grips to tighten those stupid allen heads. I know to check them regularly now.
The fist time they came loose, I just was laying under my bronco pushing and pulling on shit..... pushed up on the transfer and the whole thing moved a few degrees! Thought to myself....that can't be good!
Rock Puppy 05-23-2002, 07:25 AM Can you use Locktite on those bolts or do they go all the way through to the inside of the tranny??
welndmn 05-23-2002, 10:36 AM LOL Don, som ratcht straps would hold it in.
If i were to do it again i would use loc tight.
The sad part was my 435 finaly started going in and out of gear smoothly with me pushing it, it was shifting like a sports car.
Now its back to grining it into gear and pushing it hard.
When i got my NP from the yard, i never even drained the fluid for the first couple of months :D
